The Solar de Veade was created thanks to the dream of a family to produce excellent wines, in one of the best but less known local regions of the Vinho Verde DOC, the local region of Basto, where for hundreds of years some of the best Vinhos Verdes have been produced. With its magnificent birthplace Casa da Capela, a beautiful 17th century manor, this company aims to be a standard, both in the quality of its products and in the different partnerships, to delight its clients.

OUR VINEYARDS

The Solar de Veade’s vineyards are divided into two areas of land, the first with 2 hectares on the Manor side and a larger 26-hectare area, on the slopes between the River Veade and the River Tâmega.

The granite soil combines perfectly with the high temperatures of this region, giving wines more body and complexity. Furthermore, within these two areas, which are so different, and benefiting from the vastness of one of them, we will find different terroirs where the combination of different soils, altitudes and exposure to sunlight, all contribute to creating excellent wines with their own unique personality.

TRADITION

The Solar de Veade is a family company, created in Casa da Capela, a manor dating back to the 17th century, where the word Tradition is most meaningful. Here, various generations have always been involved in key agricultural activity in the region, from which there has been a production of outstanding wine.

INNOVATION

The deep roots that uphold our company are our Tradition; however, we wish to go even further. The Solar de Veade’s wine-making process aims to boast the most recent techniques, aided by the most advanced methods, starting from the planting of the vines through to the bottling of the precious nectar.

Our genesis is local and family-based, but our ambition is clear: we want to take our wines all over the world and to all the great international markets. We wish to take not only our products but also some of our Region, a small piece of our Country and a Flavour of our Culture.

OUR PRODUCTS

Solar de Veade, its name was inspired by the Casa de Capela, a magnificent 17th century Manor. It is the result of a careful selection of the best grapes that gives rise to an elegant wine with subtle floral and noble-wood aromas. It expresses an exceptional minerality embodied in a sumptuous texture. With a solemnly persistent aftertaste, this wine nobly portrays all aspects of its complexity.

Solar de Veade Vessada its name is inspired by the two areas of land where we planted our first vineyards. Vessada is an ode to the main varieties of our region – Azal and Arinto. It reigns supreme in mineral acidity and aromatic complexity, showing the intensity of spring flowers and fruits. Its mineral acidity affords an aftertaste that is lingering and sumptuous.

Solar de Veade Camélia Rosé – a creation of Solar de Veade, a company headquartered in Casa de Capela, a 17th century Manor located in Celorico de Basto. Its name is inspired by the flowers which, since the 19th century, and influenced by Great Britain, have adorned the gardens of many houses in Basto, among them the birthplace of this company.

Camélia Rosé is an exuberant, salmon-coloured wine with notes of cherry, pomegranate, and strawberry. In the mouth, it expresses a natural freshness which marries splendidly with a full body and vivid aroma. It boasts a highly agreeable sense of lightness and freshness with an aftertaste that is lingering, vivid, and refreshing.

Solar de Veade Camélia White is a creation of Solar de Veade, a company headquartered in Casa de Capela, a 17th century Manor located in Celorico de Basto. Its name is inspired by the flowers which, since the 19th century, and influenced by Great Britain, have adorned the gardens of many houses in Basto, among them the birthplace of this company.

Camélia White is characterised by its natural acidity, with an intensity of tropical fruit aromas harmoniously married to floral notes. It portrays freshness and voluptuousness in the persistent aftertaste. This is a versatile wine, and excellent company for any moment.
